Professional Personal Statement
I have been working in private practice for about 30 years in the West L.A. area. My approach is to evaluate each individual’s need and style, and match an appropriate treatment approach. I work with all ages from five years and up. My specialty areas are depression, anxiety, stress and trauma treatment. I work with the clients to gain or regain a sense of balance emotionally, including problem-solving, reducing stress and improving balance in life. Anxiety issues such as phobias (public speaking, heights, driving) are particular areas of skill and interest I have developed. I intend for each session with a client to be a valuable experience. I have specialized training in: gerontology, sexual abuse (child or adult), sexual dysfunctions, hypnosis, developmental disabilities, disability (onset, course, & special issues) grief and loss, communication for couples/families, marital/premarital counseling, family emergencies. I work with crime and trauma victims, including adults maltreated in childhood. I conducted psychological evaluations for dependency court, serve as an expert witness in cases around the nation, and work with the media (live radio/TV, film/television consultations). I have several published books and articles. I am fluent in Spanish. I love the work I do, and committed to continuing education.
